Dedicated to Francis Drake.
Once upon a time, the Queen’s privateer…
In 1587 the legendary sea captain Francis Drake raided the Bay of Cadiz, sank the Spanish fleet, and fled after loading 2,900 barrels of Sherry. It was considered the coup of that century. More than four hundred years have passed and today Mazzetti d’Altavilla dedicates to the then privateer of the Queen of England a fine Grappa that finishes its aging in barrels previously used for refining Sherry. The selected distillate (2,900 bottles, like the barrels of Francis Drake) is of Brachetto and has a special ‘Sherry Finish’ that gives aromatic and fruity hints.
